My Transition to High School and Projects — Past and Future

I’m about to reach a big milestone in my life: I’m going to high school soon. I just graduated from middle school a few months ago. I have submitted the application to go to high school and it’s being reviewed. Even though I am enjoying life in china, I have been quite bored this summer so I am excited to go to high school this fall. I’m going to Del Lago Academy for the next four years. I have signed up for the transport but Del Lago likes to do lotteries so I don’t even know if I will get the bus. If I don’t get the bus I don’t even know how I’m going to get to school, the magnet school is not centralized so for certain students, including me, getting there without transport is a huge challenge.

I have stated a few projects lately such Recreating Mission (https://haorui.webflow.io/recreating-mission/home) which is available on my website, the Unblock Bing (https://haorui.webflow.io/unblock/bing). The Recreating Mission project was a success, but barely, I finished the project just a few hours before the deadline. The Unblock Bing project was ultimately a failure; despite our efforts, the district kept Microsoft Bing blocked. I want to start more projects in high school. I have already started on one of them: creating a movie with a low budget. My current budget is zero dollars. I am planning to get volunteers to do the acting in the movie along with the filming. I will be doing the majority of the filing and acting. I will film the movie with a mobile phone to avoid the expensive costs of a camera. I will edit all the footage on my own or with the assistance of a volunteer. I might not finish this project, I hope I do. I have also found interest in creating music, I don’t know if I will get to releasing any songs but it seems likely.

You can probably tell by my blog posts that I have found enjoyment in writing. I have been spending time writing blogs and the screenplay for the movie. I have also been writing a report on a person that I’m studying, I might post the research in one of my blogs or in a webpage. I have spent ~¥44 on an external keyboard because I was previously typing on an iPad touchscreen and it was way worse than a mechanical keyboard. As for the blog, I don’t think it will last and if it does, I don’t really have a schedule, I just post whenever I feel like there is something important to write about. This might be my last blog, or it might not. I have tried writing blogs in the past but those were about stuff I wasn’t involved in; these blogs will be about my life so hopefully I continue writing them. If I do, I could look back on my life and see how much I’ve grown over the years. Side note: the title of this post has “—“ and I don’t know if this is the correct context to be using it.

My plane leave on August 11 China Central Time from Hong Kong airport (HKG) and lands at Los Angeles airport on August 10 Pacific Time. The entire flight is fifteen hours. I have one day of rest before I start school. Hopefully I will be able to cancel out the flight lag before school starts. At this point I go to bed at 12 in the afternoon and wake up at 9 in the evening (pacific time). I will have to completely flip my sleep schedule. I will try to use the plane’s loud engine noises to say awake during the day and seep during the night. Brewing some tea could also help me stay awake during the day and seep during the night. I will try to keep my eyes closed most of the night so I am awake in the morning, listening to podcasts will probably help me not die from boredom. I’ll make sure to keep you updated on my trip; updates will be posted on this blog but if you want more detail, follow me on twitter (@haoruiyuan) and instagram (@haorui_yuan).

Thank you for reading my entire article, most people that I know don’t enjoy reading. I’ll be signing off here, stay tuned for my next blog post.
